Beautification & Streetscaping

The Role of the Beautification Committee is to engage residents in projects and partnerships that enhance the beauty and appeal of Penn Hills.

The PHCDC Beautification Committee is actively seeking volunteers to assist in the maintenance of our garden projects located throughout Penn Hills, including:

Star Garden

The Star Garden is located at the corner of Frankstown Road and Coal Hollow Road. Activities include annual plantings, routine mowing, litter pickup, and managing the Welcome to Penn Hills sign located there.

Lamar Garden

The Lamar Garden is located at the bottom of Coal Hollow Road at the intersection with Allegheny River Blvd and it surrounds the digital Lamar advertising sign. Activities include annual plantings, routine mowing, and litter pick-up.

Whitehawk Garden

The Whitehawk Garden is located just off of Rodi Road in front of the Whitehawk Cafe and the #7 Volunteer Fire Dept. Activities include annual plantings, routine mowing, and litter pick-up.

Lookout Garden

The PHCDC tends to the garden area in front of the stone “lookout” area on Allegheny River Blvd. Activities include annual plantings, routine mowing, and litter pick-up.
